Bend, OR : Tualatin man, Bend officer injured car collided with another vehicle on Saturday March 5 2016
A Tualatin man and a Bend police officer responding to an emergency back-up call both were injured in Bend Saturday morning when the police officer's car collided with another vehicle.
Preliminary information indicates that the police officer, Cpl. Rob Emerson, collided with another vehicle as his car, its emergency lights and siren activated, went through an intersection. After the collision the police vehicle slid across the intersection, jumping the curb and striking a pedestrian, Brian Zacher, 39, of Tualatin, who was on the sidewalk.
Both Zacher and Emerson were taken to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the car that collided with Emerson's police vehicle, Eric C. Olson, 58, of Bend, was not injured.
Following the accident, the Bend Police Department asked the Oregon State Police to investigate the incident. That investigation remains underway, according to state police.
