Gaffney, SC : Blacksburg man dies in crash on Sunday, August 6, 2017

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says a Blacksburg motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in two-vehicle collision. Fowler identified the victim as James Derrick Henson, Jr., 19, of 514 South Shelby Street.

Henson was driver and lone occupant of a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was headed east on Oak Grove Road 2 miles west of Blacksburg at 3 p.m. The motorcycle was struck head-on by a 2010 Honda that was headed west and being driven by Megan Aleene Collins of 158 Oak Grove Road, Blacksburg”, Fowler said.

Henson, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fowler said an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday morning to assist with the investigation that in continuing by his office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
