Lafayette County, WI : Two injured in Lafayette County car-truck crash on Highway 151 and Burr Oak Road in the town of Belmont on Tuesday, September 23, 2014
Two people were seriously injured Tuesday in a crash in Lafayette County, caused by the driver of a car failing to yield to a truck.
The crash happened at about 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 151 and Burr Oak Road in the town of Belmont, the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
Dale Eastlick, 82, Belmont and Bernard Eastlick, 80, Westchester, Pennsylvania, were injured in the crash and had to be extricated from their car before being taken to Southwest Healthcare in Platteville.
The Sheriff's Department said:
A semi-tractor-trailer driven by Darrell Midthun, 35, DeForest, was southbound on Highway 151 and the car driven by Dale Eastlick was westbound on Burr Oak Road.
As the truck came through the intersection, Eastlick failed to yield and collided with the trailer, the car going part way under the trailer before coming out and spinning several times, ending up in the median.
Midthun was not injured.
Belmont Fire and EMS, the State Patrol and Lafayette County Highway Department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
