Yankton,SD : Motorcyclist Killed In Crash on may, saturday 13th 2017
One person was killed in a vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash north of Yankton Saturday morning.
According to a press release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a 60-year-old male was killed as a result of the crash.
The names of the victim and the other driver have not been released at this time.
According to the release, at 11:24 a.m. Saturday, a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle was northbound on U.S. Highway 81 seven miles north of Yankton when it passed another vehicle while traveling in the southbound lane. The motorcycle collided with a southbound 2014 Ford Fusion, which tried to avoid the collision. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
The other driver, a female, was uninjured. She was wearing a seatbelt.
The South Dakota's Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Responding agencies included the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, Yankton County EMS and Yankton Fire and Rescue.
