Spartanburg County, S.C : Special needs bus involved in head-on collision Wednesday afternoon on August 20, 2014

A woman has been charged after a head-on collision with a school bus Wednesday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The accident happened at River Oak and Quail Creek roads at 3:40 p.m., said troopers. According to troopers, a pickup truck was traveling north on Quail Creek road and disregarded a stop sign and hit the right front side of the school bus. There were seven students, the driver and an aide on the bus at the time of the accident. EMS checked everyone out and applied at least one bandage; some minor bumps and bruises were suffered, but no one was transported to hospital, Rhonda Henderson spokesperson for Spartanburg County District 2 schools. All parents have been called, though some received a voicemail, Henderson said. According to Henderson, another bus is transporting the students home. According to troopers, the driver of the pickup truck was transported to Spartanburg regional for their injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was charged with disregarding a stop sign and driving under suspension, said troopers.
