Racine,WI : Two arrested after car, foot chase and rollover crash on may, Monday 29th 2017
Two male suspects were in custody late Monday afternoon after a high-speed police pursuit, spectacular rollover crash and foot pursuit involving K-9 officers.
The high-speed pursuit involving numerous squad cars and officers began after a traffic violation, Racine Police Sgt. Ryan Comstock said after both suspects had been arrested. But the suspects had evidently done something illegal before that — he didn’t know what — and one segment of the investigation involved the reason they attempted to flee.
One suspect jumped out of the fleeing vehicle about one-half to 1 mile south of the 3000 block of Erie Street where the rollover crash occurred, Comstock said, and that started one foot chase. Police caught and arrested that suspect.
The driver of the white sedan continued north on Erie Street at high speed, according to witnesses. The car went up on its two right wheels, cut through parts of at least three yards on the east side of the street, then went airborne, spinning side to side.
The car clipped a large part of a tree and then landed, mangled, in homeowner Randy Squires’ yard and driveway. Squires said he and his wife were sitting in their living room and saw the fast-approaching, spinning car coming their way.
“I feel very fortunate that thing didn’t come through the window,” Squires said. “I thought my wife and I were goners.”
