Warren, MI : Rollover crash in Warren leaves one dead, one hospitalized on Saturday, 15th February, 2020
A young woman remained hospitalized with significant injuries Sunday, one day after she was ejected from a car during a deadly rollover crash in Warren.
Police were called about 8:15 a.m. Saturday to Dequindre Road at Stephens Road to respond to a two-car collision that left a 23-year-old male dead.
A preliminary investigation shows speed and the occupants' not wearing their seatbelts were factors in the crash, said Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer.
"This is simply another tragedy," Dwyer said. "If they had been wearing their seatbelts, a life could have been saved."
According to police, the couple was traveling north on Dequindre in a Jeep Wrangler at a high rate of speed when the vehicle clipped a Dodge Avenger while changing lanes.
The driver of the Jeep lost control of the vehicle, which struck a pole and rolled over. The female was thrown from the Jeep, which then landed on top of the male, trapping him.
