Daggett, MI : Three children die in Upper Peninsula crash on U.S. 41 on Monday night, November 24, 2014
Authorities say three children have died in a crash on a snowy highway in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The EagleHerald reports Menominee County Sheriff Kenny Marks says 40-year-old Susan Meade of Daggett was driving her children in a van on U.S. 41 on Monday night when she lost control and veered into a semitrailer's path. He says the semitrailer driver tried to avoid hitting the van but struck it in the side.
Marks says 14-year-old Michael McCue, 12-year-old Maxwell McCue and 11-year-old Joelle McCue were killed.
Meade was critically injured but had to be taken by ambulance to a hospital because a rescue helicopter couldn't respond in the snowy conditions. Marks says Meade was later transported to a hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Marks is urging residents to stay off the slippery roads.
