Stanley, N.D : 55-year-old man dies in rollover crash on state Highway 8 in Mountrail County on Friday, August 5, 2016

A 55-year-old man is dead following a rollover crash Friday in Mountrail County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the man, who has not been identified, was northbound on state Highway 8, about 20 miles south of Stanley shortly after noon Friday, when he crossed the southbound lanes and entered the ditch. Authorities say the car struck a culvert and vaulted, overturning and coming to rest on its top.

The man was the car's only occupant. The Highway Patrol says he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.
