Providence County, R.I : Three injured in head-on crash on Route 102 in No. Smithfield on Sunday, August 14, 2016
A head-on collision on Route 102 on Sunday, Aug. 14 left three people injured and shut down traffic on the busy road for several hours through the afternoon.
The crash, which is still under investigation, involved a Toyota Solara operated by Togbah Darlington, 32 of 15 Chaucer St., Providence. Raymond Marcotte, 84 and his passenger and wife Irene Marcotte, both of 580 Wrentham Road, Bellingham, Mass., were in the second vehicle.
Darlington had to be extricated from his vehicle, and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and is in stable condition. The Marcottes were also transported to by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital and are in stable condition.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. according to police, who responded to the accident just by Pine Street along with fire personnel.
The North Smithfield Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit was called out to the scene and is reportedly still investigating the cause of the accident.
