Las Vegas, NV : 69-year-old man struck and killed by driver in the area of West Spring Mountain Road on Friday, February 12, 2016
Las Vegas police say a 69-year-old man was struck and killed by a driver who may have been drunk.
Authorities say the collision happened just after 6:30 p.m. Friday in the area of West Spring Mountain Road and South Stober Boulevard.
According to witnesses, the man was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a Jeep Liberty.
Investigators say the victim was knocked to the road.
He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the driver of the Jeep, 35-year-old Peter Mitchel, left the scene but returned an hour later.
They say Mitchel showed signs of impairment from alcohol and was booked on suspicion of DUI and hit and run.
A 39-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was not hurt.
