Roaring Brook Twp., PA : Scranton man dies in I-84 crash on Tuesday afternoon, January24, 2017

A Scranton man died this afternoon when he rear ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 84, state police at Dunmore said.

Michael A. Gianoni, 53, struck the back of 50-year-old Philip M. Defazio’s rig for an unknown reason at 12:25 p.m. near mile marker 3½, troopers said.

Mr. Gianoni’s vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Express van, wedged underneath the bed of Mr. Defazio’s truck, state police said.

Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland pronounced Mr. Gianoni dead at the scene, state police said.
