Shady Point ,OK :hree teens killed and two others injured after crash on Saturday ,August 15th 2015
Three teenagers were killed and two others are in critical condition Saturday after a police chase in Leflore County, officials said.
About 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Shady Point officers were in pursuit of a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling west on Latham Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, according to an accident report. The truck ran off the road to the right, and the driver over-corrected, causing the truck to cross the road to the left.
The truck rolled one-fourth of a time and crashed into a tree.
The driver and four passengers, all of whom were teenagers, were pinned inside the truck. Crews from the Panama and Shady Point fire departments got them out.
The driver, 17, and two passengers, ages 14 and 15, were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Two other passengers, both 17, were taken to an Arkansas hospital in critical condition.
Because of their ages, none of the victims' names have been released.
The reporting officer lists unsafe speed as the cause of the crash. The accident is under investigation.
