Longview, TX : A Troup woman was killed on Saturday, July 15, 2017

A Troup woman was killed Saturday after police said she drove off Interstate 20 and crashed into a train.

Nelda Holland Cooper, 77, was traveling west on Interstate 20 when her vehicle left the roadway and hit a train that was not moving, causing the vehicle to catch fire, according to officials with the Longview Police Department. Police responded at about 11:43 p.m. Saturday to the wreck at Estes Parkway and Interstate 20.

Westbound and eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 were shut down until emergency crews could reopen the highway, police said.

Police are still investigating the cause of the wreck and ask anyone with information about the crash to call the Longview Police Department at (903) 237-1170.
