STONINGTON ,IL : One hurt in accident near Stonington on July, Thursday 13th 2017

One person was hurt in a three-vehicle accident Thursday on Illinois 48 north of Stonington, the Illinois State Police said.

Police said a minivan driven by Brenda J. Graham, 57, of Stonington, was traveling south on Illinois 48 approaching Christian County Road 1900E at 3:10 p.m. As Graham slowed her vehicle and activated her left turn signal, a car driven by Samuel L. Walton, 36, of Taylorville, was following behind and slowed.

Police said a truck/grain trailer driven by David C. Trail, 74, of Lincoln, was following behind, failed to reduce speed and struck Walton's car, which then hit the minivan.

Walton was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, police said. Trail was cited for following to closely.
