Baltimore City, MD : Driver dies and 1 others injured in crash on Interstate 95 Hanover Street bridge Friday October 16 2015
Baltimore police said Saturday that 49-year-old Charles J. Coleman Jr., of the 5000 block of Ivanhoe Avenue, died in the Hanover Street bridge crash that left 11 others injured on Friday night.
Coleman was driving a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder north in a center lane marked with a red "x," against traffic, when he struck a Ford passenger van headed south in the same lane. The van was carrying 11 people; they suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
Coleman was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash occurred around 9:10 p.m., closing the bridge and the Hanover Street exit on northbound Interstate 95.
