Passenger dies in two-car crash in Mountain Tennessee
A crash Tuesday afternoon that backed up traffic in both directions on U.S. 17 killed one person, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Corporal Sonny Collins said a two-vehicle crash occurred about noon Tuesday when Chevrolet pickup truck headed south on U.S. 17 was hit by a Dodge truck attempting to turn left onto Holmestown Road.
Harvey Lee Harmon, 66, of Mountain City, Tenn. died from injuries sustained in the crash, said Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Harmon has been living in Myrtle Beach and was a passenger in the Chevrolet.
Brian Hamilton, 43, is charged with failure to yield right of way in the crash. Hamilton was driving the Dodge, Collins said.
Three people were taken to area hospitals following the crash, Collins said. Two from the Chevrolet and one from the Dodge. All occupants were wearing seat belts when the crash occurred.
