Bend,OR : Woman dead in Highway 97 crash near Terrebonne on June, Wednesday 21th 2017

A fatal crash briefly closed part of U.S. Highway 97 Wednesday afternoon one mile south of Terrebonne, according to Oregon State Police.

Marjorie French, 76, of Gaston, died at the scene of the accident. Four others were transported to Bend and Redmond hospitals.

According to state police, the accident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. when a northbound 2008 Honda Pilot SUV driven by Amber Paplia, 26, of Madras, crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2015 Toyota Camry driven by Dennis French, 78, of Gaston.

Marjorie French, the front passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Dennis French and Paplia were transported to St. Charles Redmond with serious injuries. Two other passengers in French’s car — Diane Acevedo and an 11-year-old child, both of San Bruno, California — were taken to St. Charles Bend with non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe fatigue may have been a factor in the crash.
