Conway, AR : Authorities release crash victim’s name on April, Thursday 6th 2017
Authorities have released the name of the man who died in a multi-vehicle crash on the Cadron Flats on Thursday.
Faulkner County Coroner Patrick Moore pronounced Todd E. Johnston, 43, of Greenbrier dead at the scene.
According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary report, a 2011 Chevrolet headed northbound on Highway 65 near Stanford Road stopped suddenly in the road at 8:25 a.m., causing the 1985 Mack truck traveling behind it to veer left into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting it.
The Mack truck struck the 2001 Dodge that Johnston was driving southbound.
The pile-up continued as a fourth vehicle, a 2002 Freightliner that was behind Johnston, veered left to avoid hitting the Mack truck and Johnston’s Dodge. The Freightliner ended up striking the Mack truck and the Chevrolet.
A portion of Highway 65 along the Cadron Flats was shut down Thursday as ASP and the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office worked two seperate wrecks — the one on the Cadron Flats and an unrelated wreck at the intersection of Beaverfork Road and Highway 25 . Spokesman Adam Bledsoe said roads were reopened by 11:15 a.m.
There were no other injuries reported in Thursday’s crash, according to the ASP report.
Weather conditions were described as clear and road conditions were dry.
Johnston’s body was taken to the Faulkner County Coroner’s office Thursday. His death was the 122nd fatality on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary reports.
