Hanover Township, PA : 3-year-old dies in crash on dangerous stretch of road on Saturday, April 9, 2016

A 3-year-old girl was identified late Saturday as the victim of a two-vehicle crash in Hanover Township, Lehigh County.

Nevaeha Lydia Marie Rivera, of Weatherly, Pennsylvania, was ejected from one of the vehicles in the crash Saturday afternoon in the 1900 block of Weaversville Road, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. An autopsy is planned Monday.

The crash was reported at 4:39 p.m., near the intersection with Colonial Road. Pennsylvania State Police were still investigating more than four hours later and had not released any details.

The rear of one car appeared to have been sheared off, and a pickup truck was against a utility pole, just south of a sharp bend of Weaversville Road.

It's an area that nearby residents said is prone to accidents.

"It happens quite often," said Jim Cobb, who said he has lived at the intersection of Colonial and Weaversville for 10 years. He estimated two or three crashes near the bend a year.

Bette Parry, who lives nearby on Imperial Drive, agreed on the frequency of the crashes.

Her 39-year-old daughter, who was being interviewed by state police, narrowly missed being in Saturday's crash, Parry said.

"It kind of breaks your heart, knowing that a child died," she said.
