Brookline, MA : A three-car crash on Brookline’s Hammond Street on Sunday, 8th March, 2020
An 85-year-old woman was killed Sunday afternoon in a three-car crash on Brookline’s Hammond Street.
Police said Judith Spencer, a resident of the Sophia Snow House in West Roxbury, was pronounced dead shoArtly after arrival at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday. She was riding in a car with her daughter and 10-year-old granddaughter, both of whom were also transported to Beth Israel, according to police.
In a press release, police said the preliminary investigation suggests that a car travelling north on Hammond Street veered into oncoming traffic, striking two other vehicles. The 65-year-old driver of that car, a Brookline resident, was the only occupant and was transported to Beth Israel, where he is in stable condition, according to police.
The other vehicle that was struck had five occupants — including two children, ages 8 and 10 — and was being driven by a woman from Brookline. The adults in this vehicle were taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital and have been released, police said. The two children were treated at Boston Children’s Hospital and were also released.
The Brookline Fire Department, Fallon paramedics and multiple Brookline Police units responded to the collision, which happened in the area of 895 Hammond St. The Brookline Police Traffic Unit is investigating.
