Terre Haute, IN : Illinois man injured in Parke County cycle crash on Tuesday, October, 17th 2017

An Illinois man was seriously injured after his motorcycle went off a Parke County road and he was found hours later.

Jerry Heath, 55, of Danville, Illinois, remained Tuesday in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis recovering from surgery, a hospital spokesperson said.

Parke County Sheriff’s deputies and other responders were dispatched to Coxville Road north of Mecca about 8:30 p.m. after Heath was found by a passerby. Heath said he wrecked around three hours earlier and had to crawl uphill to the edge of the road to wave for help. He had visible leg and head injuries, police reported.

An investigation determined his motorcycle went off the road, narrowly missed two large trees by going between them, and came to rest in thick foliage.

Heath was airlifted via LifeLine helicopter to Indianapolis for treatment.
