Memphis , TN : SUV crashed into a Dollar General store and one person was injured at Quince Road on Wednesday afternoon , december 17th 2014
A van crashed into a Dollar General store on Quince Road sending customers running. The accident happened just before 2 p.m.
Josh Schroyer was at the store buying some vitamins when the van crashed through the windows, barely missing people inside the store.
"I was standing at the cash register finishing my transactions and we heard this extremely loud noise," Schroyer recalled. "It was like a tornado or a train coming through. It was very, very loud."
His first reaction was to jump into action and help.
"She was an older lady, she seemed to be shocked more, less," he said. "I was able to get her to shut her motor off and sit with her until the emergency personnel got there."
While Schroyer tried to comfort the driver of the van, it was chaos inside the store.
"Screaming," he explained. "People were like, 'Oh, what's going on? It's a car inside the store.'"
A customer became briefly trapped between two aisles after the crash.
"She's OK, I think she might have had some bruising on one of her arms," Schroyer said.
According to a store manager, the driver appears to have accidentally hit the gas instead of the breaks.
