Orlando, FL : 24-year-old killed in rollover crash on State Road 44 in Volusia County Saturday morning, August 27, 2016

A 24-year-old Lake Helen man was killed in a single-vehicle accident just before 8:30 a.m. on State Road 44 in Volusia County Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Phillip Ehrecke was headed west on SR 44 in his Toyota truck approaching Omega Ranch Road when his truck left the road for an unknown reason and struck a median, FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Ehrecke then over-corrected and turned back north and ultimately ran off the grass shoulder of the road, Montes said. His truck rolled several times, coming to a stop on its left side.

Ehrecke was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck, Montes said. He died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, Montes said.
