SPOKANE, WA : 1 killed in rollover crash near Spokane International Airport on Sunday, 24th September 2023

The Spokane man charged with vehicular homicide after causing a rollover crash on Sunday night was also booked for driving while intoxicated.

The inmate roster at Spokane County Jail shows the 23-year-old Philip Garcia was booked at 2 a.m. on Sept. 25, with one charge each of vehicular homicide and DUI. A bond was not set.

The crash happened on I-90 near the Spokane International Airport after the man entered the neighboring lane, striking the back of a 2014 Kia with four occupants inside. The Kia rolled off of the Interstate from the impact, coming to rest on its side. Of the car's occupants, two boys, aged 2 and 4, were not injured in the crash. The 23-year-old woman driving the Kia was transported to hospital for her injuries. 32-year-old Jessica Wright died on-scene.
