One person has died in a car crash on Interstate 25 near Broomfield.
A female driver, who was traveling southbound on I-25 in Thornton, died after her car struck the guardrail and veered into the northbound lanes of traffic just after 3 p.m. today.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Investigators are looking into what caused the driver's car to veer into the northbound lanes.
There were no other injuries, but three vehicles were damaged by debris from the crash, said CSP Trooper Nate Reid.
I-25 between Colo. 7 and 144th Avenue east of Broomfield is closed in both directions, and rush hour traffic delays are expected.
The crash was in Thornton, but the Colorado State Patrol is handling the accident. While the highway is closed, Thornton police recommend that motorists use Washington Street or Huron Street as alternate routes, the Denver Post reported.
