Fresno, CA : Woman critically injured while trying to help crash in Fresno on Tuesday afternoon, June 28, 2016
Police say a 19-year-old woman was struck by a car and critically injured while trying to fetch water for car crash victims in Fresno.
The Fresno Bee reports that the woman got off a bus Tuesday afternoon, shortly after a car crash in the area. Witnesses say the woman crossed the street to get water for crash victims, walking in the path of an oncoming Buick.
Lt. Joe Gomez says the woman was knocked into the air and suffered a head injury, broken bones and road rash. He says she was rushed to the hospital and taken to intensive care and surgery.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.
Victims of the earlier crash were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
