A Saugus woman was killed in a crash early Tuesday morning while driving northbound on Interstate 5 in the Sylmar area, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.

Leanna Marie Torres, 28, was driving a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the left lanes of Interstate 5, south of Interstate 210, when the vehicle veered to the right for unknown reasons at approximately 2:45 a.m., according to police.

The left front side of the vehicle hit a light pole, and the vehicle then crashed into a metal guardrail and overturned.

According to police, Torres was ejected from the vehicle because she was not wearing a seat belt. The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced her dead on scene.
