York, ME : One man was injured in single car crash on early Sunday morning on August 31st 2014.

A 37-year-old man from Haverhill, Mass., was entrapped in a severely damaged vehicle involved in a single car crash on Route 1 in York early Sunday morning, according to police. Linh Ngoc Lu, 37, 60 Snow Road, Haverhill, Mass., was transported by Life Flight to Maine Medical in Portland with serious injuries, according to Sgt. Brian Curtin. At approximately 1:48 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, Ogunquit police and Ogunquit Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the crash at the York and Ogunquit town line, Curtin said. Lu was the operator and he was alone in the vehicle, he said. Ogunquit fire officials requested York Beach and York Ambulance to respond to the scene for assistance. Fire and rescue personnel worked for 45 minutes to remove Lu from the car, he said. Initial investigation by Ogunquit police determined that the crash had occurred in York and the investigation was handed over to the York Police Department. Preliminary investigation determined that Lu was operating his 2008 BMW northbound. Lu's vehicle left the right side of the roadway struck and severing a utility pole. His vehicle then traveled down an embankment and struck a tree, according to police. Indications that speed may have contributed to the crash, but the cause won't be conclusively determined until the investigation is completed by York police and the York Police Reconstruction team, officials said. The crash caused Route 1 to be closed for three hours. Source : Single car crash leaves one injured
