LYNNE, FL : 1 killed, another injured in three-vehicle crash on East State Road 40 near Northeast 10th Street Road on Thursday, 23rd April, 2020

A three-vehicle wreck along State Road 40 claimed the life of one person and seriously injured another on Thursday afternoon.

The crash, which occurred on East State Road 40 near Northeast 10th Street Road in Lynne, blocked a portion of the popular roadway for several hours as the scene was cleared while Florida Highway Patrol troopers conducted their investigation and the Medical Examiner’s Office processed the victim, who was found lying next to the car she had been driving.

Marion County Fire Rescue Spokesman James Lucas said they were assigned the call at 5:27 p.m. and arrived at 5:32 p.m. The woman, whose name was not released pending next of kin notification, was pronounced dead at 5:34 p.m.

Lucas said the driver of a Dollar General semitrailer, one of the vehicles involved in the crash, was trapped in the cab of the vehicle, which barreled through a wooded area.

The driver of the semitrailer, a man, was eventually removed from the vehicle and transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center in serious condition.
