2 killed, 2 injured in Auglaize County crash

Two people were killed and two others suffered incapacitating injuries Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 219 at State Route 364 in St. Marys Twp.Phyllis Slife, 81, and Abigail Hale, 42, both of Sidney, were killed when the 2006 Honda Ridgeline sport pickup they were in did not stop at the stop sign at 219 and traveled into the path of a passenger car, the Ohio Highway Patrol post in Wapakoneta reported.Joan Shoffner, 83, also of Sidney, was driving the truck south on 364 at the time of the accident, which occurred just after 5 p.m., according to the patrol.The 2004 Dodge Neon that hit Shoffner's vehicle broadside was driven by Ron Brown Jr., 26, of St. Marys. His car struck the right passenger side of Shoffner's vehicle and sent both vehicles into a ditch at the southeast corner of the intersection.Slife, the front passenger in the truck, died at the scene. Hale, the rear passenger, was ejected. She was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital.Shoffner and Brown were taken to Joint Twp. Hospital, then flown to Miami Valley Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available late Thursday night.The patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
