An elderly man died Monday afternoon after his car crashed head-on with a tractor-trailer on the South Side.
Alonzo McCoy, 71, of the South Side, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:51 p.m., about 15 minutes after Columbus police and fire were called to the crash on the 2000 block of Williams Road.
McCoy was driving east on Williams Road when, for unknown reasons, he drifted left of center and struck the westbound tractor-trailer driven by Richard Conrady, 27, of Columbus, said Detective Christopher Bailey of the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit.
Conrady was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A pedestrian, whose name was not available, was also injured. Bailey said investigators are trying to determine what connection the pedestrian might had with the crash.
