An Alma resident was involved in a four-vehicle crash Sunday evening, Oct. 29, but was reportedly not injured.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred on state Highway 13 in Lafayette County when a 1998 Chevrolet Astro was traveling north and struck the rear of a 2006 Dodge Charger — driven by James Middleton, 63, of Independence — resulting in the Astro crossing the center line into the path of a Jeep Cherokee. The report stated it struck the Jeep and traveled off the road, but was also struck by a fourth vehicle — a 2001 Ford Expedition, driven by Taylor Case, 21, of Alma.
The driver of the Astro — Joaquin Vasquez Gutierrez, 44, of Sedalia — reportedly sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital by ambulance for treatment. The driver of the Jeep — Morgan B. Hightree, 20, of Jameson — was also transported by ambulance for treatment of moderate injuries.
Case and Middleton had no reported injuries, and all parties were reportedly wearing safety devices.
MSHP was assisted at the scene by Lexington EMS and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.
