Mason City, IA : Three injured in two-vehicle crash south of Rockwell on Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2016

Three were injured in a two-vehicle accident south of Rockwell Thursday afternoon.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department says Richard Kuns, 63, Clear Lake, was southbound on Quail Avenue in a 1998 Buick LeSabre around 1:54 p.m. when he failed to yield at the uncontrolled intersection.

Kuns, who law enforcement says is a rural U.S. Postal Service carrier, collided with a 2003 Buick Park Avenue driven by Janice Noss, 78, Rockwell, who was eastbound on 120th Street.

Kuns, Janice Noss and Richard Noss, 81, a passenger in the Park Avenue, were transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Kuns was flown by helicopter. Janice Noss and Richard Noss were taken by ambulance.

A hospital official said Kuns requested his medical condition not be released. Janice Noss and Richard Noss were still being evaluted Thursday afternoon.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Mason City Fire medics, Sheffield Fire Department and Mercy Air Med.
