San Diego, CA : 1 dead in crash off I-5 in Bay Ho neighborhood on Tuesday, 18th February, 2020

A driver died in a crash Tuesday after an SUV reportedly flew off Interstate 5 onto Garnet Avenue in Bay Ho, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 1:45 p.m. Initial reports indicated that a white Toyota Rav4 veered off northbound I-5, becoming airborne and landing on its roof on Garnet near a stretch where it merges into Balboa Avenue, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The driver died at the scene, CHP Officer Jake Sanchez said. No other injuries were reported.

San Diego police on Twitter advised the public to avoid the area, saying the investigation would last “for an unknown duration.”
