Corydon, IN : Two people were killed in a four-vehicle crash at S.R. 135 On Friday, June 24th, 2016
A four-vehicle crash on S.R. 135 near the entrance of Hayswood Nature Reserve west of Corydon left two dead and eight injured Friday afternoon.
Stephanie Ann Nall, 37, and her fiancée, Chris Hicks, 37, both of Louisville, were killed when their vehicle, driven by Nall, was rear-ended at about 3:10 while attempting to turn into Hayswood park, sending it into oncoming northbound traffic.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Harrison County Coroner Rusty Sizemore.
Two other passengers in the car — a green 2015 Chevy Spark — were transported with incapacitating injuries. They were Emily and Sarah Etienne, 15 and 13, respectively, of Louisville. Emily Etienne was ejected from the car; Sarah Etienne was
transported to University Hospital in Louisville via Air Methods.
According to police, three of the four people in the vehicle were wearing seat belts. It is unknown if Hicks was wearing his seat belt.
Steve T. Bagby Jr., 32, Corydon, was driving a gray 2010 Dodge Caravan southbound behind the slowed or stopped green Spark, braked and swerved right but was unable to avoid a collision with the Spark, according to the police report by Officer
D. Sieg of the Harrison County Sheriff's Dept.
The collision pushed Nall's car into northbound traffic.
Thomas D. Stauffer, 62, of Payneville, Ky., was traveling north in a gray 1997 Dodge Caravan and clipped Nall's vehicle, which put it into a spin. The Spark was then struck on the driver's side by Tim K. Dillingham, 57, of Evansville, who was
traveling north in a white 2005 Chevy Silverado extended cab truck. The impact pushed the Spark back into the south-bound lane.
Dillingham and his passengers, Alexander and Ayden Dillingham, 9 and 10, respectively, and Kayelee and Breanna Philips, 15 and 16, respectively, were transported to the hospital with injuries. All were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.
The report indicates that toxicology results are pending for Nall and Bagby.
Bagby, who was traveling alone and wearing his seat belt, was transported to the hospital with injuries to his elbow and lower arm. Stauffer, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
Assisting at the scene were Harrison County Hospital EMS, Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Dept. and others.
