Zebulon, N.C : Man dies in Johnston County motorcycle crash on Sunday, November 9, 2014

A Middlesex man going to visit his mother died in a motorcycle accident not far from her home. Derrick Wiggins, 37, died Sunday in an accident on Creech Johnson Road when he hit a curb and then struck a tree before being ejected onto the roadway. The incident occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. Sunday. Alcohol or excessive speed are not believed to be factors in the wreck. Wiggins had only recently begun riding a motorcycle, authorities said.
