Cartersville, GA : Southbound 75 crash leads to city gridlock on Tuesday, March 7th 2017
An early-morning accident in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 just south of the Cartersville Main St. interchange resulted in a jackknifed and overturned semi-trailer and a demolished automobile, lower right.Nearly every thoroughfare into Cartersville was clogged for hours Tuesday morning after Interstate Highway 75 was closed due to an accident.
Bartow County Emergency Medical Service spokesman Brad Cothran said two vehicles, a FedEx double rig and a grey Honda Civic, collided in the southbound lane at mile marker 286 around 3:30 a.m.
When BCEMS crews arrived, they discovered three injured patients. The most severely injured, a 23-year-old man, was stabilized and flown by medical helicopter to the Grady Hospital trauma center in Atlanta for treatment of a head injury. Two other occupants were treated for numerous minor injuries and transported to Cartersville
Medical Center for treatment.
The FedEx vehicle, a double-trailer rig, flipped over on its side blocking the entire southbound lane.
