Mount Zion, IL : 20-year-old man killed in a motorcycle accident near Turpin Road and Elwin Blacktop early Saturday morning, March 11, 2017

A 20-year-old Mount Zion man was killed in a motorcycle accident early this morning in a wooded, creek area near Turpin Road and Elwin Blacktop.

The man was last seen leaving a residence early this morning. Later in the afternoon friends and relatives became concerned when they realized he hadn’t made it to his residence.

Friends began searching the area along a creek near Fuyao Glass Illinois and discovered the crash at 1:30 pm.

Preliminary investigation shows that the motorcyclist left a residence on Turpin road about 1 a.m. and traveled along a field access road before eventually crashing into a bank of trees and into the creek. The name of the victim is being withheld, pending family notification.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and the Macon County Coroner’s Office are investigating the accident.
