Honolulu, HI : Motorcyclist injured in collision with biker who runs red light on Tuesday, December 2, 2014
Honolulu police say a 34-year-old man on a motorcycle suffered critical injuries when he struck a bicycle crossing an intersection against a red light.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the Honolulu man on the motorcycle at 7:12 a.m. Tuesday was driving west on Ala Moana Boulevard.
At the intersection with Queen Street, he hit a bicycle ridden by a 25-year-old Waipahu man crossing illegally toward Ala Moana Beach Park.
Neither man was wearing a helmet. Both men were thrown from their bikes.
They were rushed to Queen's Medical Center in critical condition. The bicycle rider was later upgraded to serious condition.
Police closed Ewa-bound lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard for nearly two hours.
