Phelps, MO : Mt. Vernon man arrested after Hwy. 96 wreck on Saturday, April 16, 2016

A Mt. Vernon man was injured and subsequently arrested after a wreck Saturday at 12:20 a.m. on Highway 96, one mile east of Phelps.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Eric McMullen, 26, of Mt. Vernon, was driving a 2007 Saturday eastbound when his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.

McMullen suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. It is unknown if he was wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.

At 1:55 a.m., McMullen was arrested on four charges: misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, littering and no insurance.
