LANSING, MI : Suspected drunk driver crashes into Eaton County Sheriffs Office patrol vehicle on Thursday, 18th July 2024

A crash involving an Eaton County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle had shut down all but one lane of WB I-96 in Eaton County early Thursday.

The lane closures were north of the I-96/I-69 interchange between mile markers 95 and 96 in Delta Township but have since been reopened.

The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office tells News 10 that shortly before 2:30 a.m., a semi-truck had lost control and hit the median. Due to that, an Eaton County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle was blocking off the scene when a suspected drunk driver crashed into the patrol vehicle before going into the ditch. Nobody was in the patrol vehicle at the time of the crash.
