Davis, CA : Teen crashes car after leading officers on pursuit on Friday, January 27th 2017
A 17-year-old Davis boy was hospitalized early Friday morning after leading a Yolo County sheriff’s deputy on a high-speed pursuit that ended in a crash, officials said.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Davis said the incident began at about 3 a.m. when the deputy attempted to stop the teen’s speeding vehicle on County Road 102 south of Woodland. Rather than pull over, the driver accelerated, reaching speeds over 100 mph as he headed toward the Davis city limits.
The chase continued westbound on Covell Boulevard, still at high speeds, until the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed while trying to negotiate a turn onto northbound Highway 113, Davis said. The teen was pinned inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by Davis fire crews before being transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
Officers arrested the driver, whose name was not released because he is a minor, on suspicion of felony evasion and violation of probation, Davis said.
