Rootstown Township, OH : One person injured after one-vehicle crash on IR 76 in Portage County on Sunday, Oct 11, 2015
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury one-vehicle crash that occurred on IR 76 about 4:20 p.m. Sunday.
A 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling westbound on IR 76 attempting to pass other westbound traffic when it drove off the left side of the roadway and struck the median barrier fence. The Trailblazer then overturned, ejecting two of its five occupants.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer was driven by Andrew J. Yoder, 20, of Arcola, Illinois who sustained minor injuries and was taken to Akron City Hospital.
The Chevrolet was occupied by four other passengers, including Lavern P. Herschberger, 19, of Sullivan, Illinois; Samuel E. Yoder, 19, of Arcola, Illinois; Lisa D. Otto, 19, of Arthur, Illinois; and Roslyn P. Herschberger, 19, of Arcola, Illinois.
The first two mentioned passengers were taken to Summa Akron City Hospital with minor injuries.
Lisa D. Otto and Roslyn P. Herschberger were ejected as the vehicle overturned. Lisa D. Otto was taken with serious injuries while Roslyn P. Herschberger was taken with critical injuries to Summa Akron City Hospital. Roslyn P. Herschberger was pronounced dead at 9:59 p.m.
Neither of the ejected occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The driver and two other passengers were wearing their seatbelts.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
This crash remains under investigation.
