Odessa, TX : Girl, 11, critically hurt during three-vehicle crash on I-20 on Wednesday, March 22, 2017
A Midland man behind the wheel of a Freightliner truck was arrested Wednesday following a collision into the rear of a Chevrolet Malibu that left an 11-year-old girl with critical injuries.
The girl who traveled with three other children that included a year-old boy was first taken to Medical Center Hospital and then taken to a hospital in Lubbock for treatment of life-threatening injuries, the Odessa Police Department reported.
The crash was reported at 5:44 p.m. and occurred in the 1900 block of East Interstate 20 where the trucker, identified as 28-year-old Irvin Dominguez, was heading east directly behind the Malibu driven by 30-year-old Elvia Soto-Castaneda, of Odessa.
The OPD said Dominguez reportedly failed to control his speed and collided into the back of the Malibu, causing that car to collide into a GMC Sierra. Dominguez was arrested on suspicion of driving while license invalid with prior convictions, a misdemeanor.
All three vehicles were heading east on the I-20.
