San Diego, CA : Motorist killed in fiery crash near Escondido on Thursday morning, March 17, 2016

A motorist was killed in a fiery crash Thursday morning in an unincorporated area just outside Escondido.

The vehicle crashed and caught fire with someone still inside around 8:50 a.m. in the vicinity of Bear Valley Parkway and Bear Valley Road, south of state Route 78, according to the California Highway Patrol. Investigators later summoned personnel from the county Medical Examiner’s Office.

The name of the person killed in the crash was not immediately available.
