SHREVEPORT, LA : TDPS releases report of crash injuring 3 San Diego first responders on Monday, 14th October 2024
Three members of the San Diego Fire-Rescue suffered critical injuries during a rollover crash late last month, according to a new report from the Texas Department of Public Safety released on Monday.
The report did not specify details on what caused the crash, but the report lists the driver as a contributing factor.
On Sept. 29, the first responders were headed to North Carolina to help with recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene when the Ford F-350 truck they were in crashed on Interstate 20 near the Louisiana-Texas border.
According to the report, the truck was disabled in the east lanes.
One of the first responders tried alerting other drivers about the crash before the truck was hit by an 18-wheeler driven by Suwan Kumar, 21. Investigators say Kumar swerved to avoid hitting the truck, but later jackknifed.
