Gray, LA : Toddler killed, 3 others injured when truck crashes into home on Friday, June 27, 2014
A 2-year-old child was killed and three others - including the suspect - were injured Friday when a truck crashed into a home in Terrebonne Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Tony Milligan, 20, of Houma, faces vehicular homicide, careless operation and driving without a seatbelt. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor, and test results are pending,
The accident happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 24. Police said Milligan was traveling south on LA 24 when he rear-ended a car. Milligan fled the scene and continued south. Police said as he approached a bridge, Milligan lost control of his truck and veered off the road into a home.
Several children were inside the home because the family was having a sleepover. Two-year-old Taylor Strickland was in a bedroom with her mother, while other children were in the living room.
Taylor, along with Brittany Strickland, 24, and Lance Strickland, 25, were all taken to Thibodaux Regional Hospital. Taylor died of her injuries; the other two victims were in stable condition.
Milligan, who was not wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries and was also hospitalized. The driver of the car he rear-ended was not injured.
Milligan was released from the hospital and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail. There was no immediate word on whether bond had been set.
