Allentown, PA : Car crashes in Turnpike Extension hit-run in Upper Macungie on Friday, 30th March 2018

A car crashed into a guardrail Friday night on the Turnpike’s Northeast Extension in Upper Macungie Township in what may have been a hit-and-run accident, according to emergency radio reports.

The accident happened 10:15 in the northbound lanes of the Extension. Officials radioed that the woman who was driving the car was either pinned in the car or afraid to get out in traffic.

State police at the scene said the woman’s car had spun around but she appeared to be OK. Police did not release a description of the vehicle that fled.

Turnpike traffic slowed for the investigation, but the highway remained open.
