WEST VALLEY CITY, UT : 2 teen brothers die in West Valley collision on Friday, 1st March 2019

Two teenage brothers died in a head-on crash in West Valley City early Friday morning, police said.

Sage Snow, 17, and Rylie Snow, 16, each of West Jordan, were killed in the crash, according to West Valley City police spokeswoman Roxanne Vainuku.

She said Sage Snow was driving a passenger car east on 4100 South when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a westbound SUV near 4550 West shortly after midnight.

The brothers, who were the only occupants inside the passenger car, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Neither boy was wearing a seat belt, police said. The driver of the SUV suffered injuries that were not considered to be life threatening.

Police are still trying to figure out what caused the passenger car to cross into the other direction of traffic, Vainuku said. She said there was no immediate indication that impairment or speeding factored in the crash. Roads were wet from showers in the area at the time, but, she added there's no indication the weather was a factor, either.

Sage Snow was an 11th-grader at Valley High School and Rylie Snow was a 10th-grader at West Jordan High School, Jordan School District spokeswoman Sandy Riesgraf said.
